≪DAY1≫Seasonal Farming Experience:(Example)Rice Harvest

Seasons play a vital role in this region. You will embark on different adventures depending on the time of your visit.
In late spring and summer, you might plant some seedlings. If you plan to come in autumn, chances are you will help with the harvest, reaping the rice and hanging it to dry under the sun. In winter, you may experience weaving straw to make New Year’s decorations or prepare miso paste.

≪DAY1≫Seasonal Farming Experience:(Example)Picking Vegetables

Let’s prepare the ingredients for dinner!
Living in the countryside means you have plenty of fresh vegetables within arm’s reach. Go out in the fields and pick what you need to make dinner.
In late autumn and winter, it is too cold for crops to grow. Instead, you can experiment with traditional preserved food such as dry persimmons, Japanese tsukemono pickles, and freeze-dry specialties.

≪DAY1≫Dinner:Cooking Time

Enjoy cooking dinner together with your host family. Learn how to make some of Japan’s most iconic dishes such as onigiri (rice balls) and miso soup, and challenge yourself with one of two regional recipes.

≪DAY1≫Dinner

Take a seat and enjoy a delicious dinner together with your host family.

≪DAY2≫Breakfast

Wake up early and put together a simple breakfast together with your hosts.
There’s nothing better than a healthy Japanese meal to start the day with a blast.

≪DAY2≫Seasonal Farming Experience:(Example)Foraging for wild vegetables

There is time for one more activity before you go.
Local people live in harmony with nature and often rely on wild vegetables and mushrooms to fill their tables with tasty food.
Try foraging in the satoyama for edible plants, nuts, and mushrooms in spring and autumn. Tend to the flooded rice fields in summer. Or make miso paste if you’re staying in winter.
